Crooked Trails: Travel With a Purpose

TRAVEL PROGRAMS  -  WHAT TO EXPECT

In the rarified air of the Nepalese Himalayas, in the mist of an Ecuadorian cloud forest or the hot sun of a Maasai village in Kenya, in the steep-sided valleys of the Andes or high up on the Tibetan Plateau, Crooked Trails can introduce you to your new home.

Our homestay programs allow you to experience the daily life of ordinary people who live in extraordinary places.  Indigenous families open their doors to us, welcome us inside and share their meals around the fire.  Crooked Trails dissolves the lines that can separate travelers from locals so your travel is richer and more rewarding, for you and for your host family too.

Your bed may be a hand-woven blanket on the floor of an Andean hut, or a straw-filled mattress on a bamboo mat.  Your bath might be a basin of cold water hidden in a grove of trees.  Your breakfast may be a bowl of rice, grown, harvested, chaffed and prepared by your host.  You live the way your host family lives - simply, yet well.

Open the door and step over the threshold into the deep connection that comes from waking and sleeping, eating and working, laughing and listening with a family that is honored to have you as a guest and excited for you to become one of them.
