Combat Sexual Slavery
Location: Nepal
Maiti Nepal offers its rescued young women education with on-the-job practical training in Food Service, Carpentry, Massage Therapy, Baking, Mechanics, Hairdressing, Housekeeping, Security Guarding, Floriculture or Handcrafts. A $50 investment supplies one month of vocational education; $600 pays for a full course (one year of training.)

Crooked Trails in support of Maiti Nepal coordinates House Parties where people can receive a House Party Box sent directly to them with easy instructions on how to have your own mini-fundraising event. For more info on hosting a house party click here.

For over 8 years Crooked Trails has supported the work of Maiti Nepal which rescues girls from lives as sex slaves from the brothels of India. There are 450 girls at Maiti Nepal and the center receives no assistance from the Nepalese government which would prefer not to admit that sex trafficking occurs. Maiti Nepal has a strong border prevention program and in 2008 alone prevented 1747 women and girls from being trafficked. All support which keeps the girls fed, housed, loved and healthy comes from donors and from the beaded work the girls make. Maiti Nepal offers the girls vocational training to make beautiful beaded purses and bracelets.
