Wren McNally holds an M.A. in international affairs at George Washington University and a B.A. in Asian studies from Whitman College. She currently works as assistant director of faculty and community programs for the University of Washington (UW) Global Business Center (GBC), where she organizes events and programs that develop global business expertise for regional faculty and community members. She also coordinates the annual UW Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition, an international business plan competition that seeks to alleviate global poverty through small enterprise. Wren’s work puts her in contact with a wide array of people from private, not-for-profit, academic, and government sectors locally, nationally, and internationally. Prior to the GBC, Wren worked with the Washington Council on International Trade (WCIT), where she helped coordinate the Young Delegates Program, which provided scholarships for two students to travel to Brazil as part of a sustainable business development trip. A native of Boulder, Colorado, Wren enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing, and casual bird watching, and is passionate about the importance of access to wilderness and a sustainable approach to recreation and development. She also loves travel, languages, and cuisine, all of which she believes increase appreciation and respect for global diversity. She has studied Spanish and Japanese and has traveled in Latin America, Asia, and western Europe.
